Kate Middleton news: Royal wears tiara with link to Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II
In fact, she has reportedly stepped out wearing pieces worth more than £25million.
This includes the Queen’s jewels such as the Bahrain pearl drop earrings and the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace.
Kate has also worn royal tiaras while attending key engagements.
She notably wore a tiara from the Queen which also had a sweet link to Princess Diana.
Kate sported the sentimental jewel when attending a Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace, head of bespoke at 77 Diamonds Anna Byers said.
She told Express.co.uk: “Kate paired these sumptuous, dangling diamond earrings with the Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara, worn by Princess Diana and made by Garrard on commission from Queen Mary.
“These are the Queen’s Diamond Chandelier earrings, which Kate has borrowed from Queen Elizabeth II.”
Kate has now worn the tiara on several occasions, but on the first outing she paired it with diamond chandelier earrings with a sweet royal link.
The Lover’s Knot Tiara was loaned to Princess Diana as a wedding gift from the Queen when she married Prince Charles.
Although she didn’t wear it on her wedding day, the Princess of Wales went on to wear it many times.
It became a favourite of Princess Diana’s but she was not allowed to keep it following her divorce.
Instead, it was returned to Buckingham Palace where it was not seen until Kate sported the diadem.
Kate wearing it was special not only as it was her mother-in-law’s favourite, but because it was the first time the piece had been seen since Diana’s divorce.
Pairing the tiara with the Queen’s diamond earrings gave a subtle nod to the monarch at the same time.
The earrings are believed to be worth an impressive sum of money, Anna continued.
She stated: “The earrings feature delicate diamonds in a chandelier design surrounding large pear-shaped diamonds in each earring, which I estimate to be 2.5 carats each.
“I estimate these earrings to be worth £85,000.”
