Kate Middleton, 38, has sent a message to the British sailing team in a video shared online. She wore a navy and white striped top underneath a British sailing jacket.

She also spoke of the experiences she and her husband Prince William have had with the competition.

“Six years ago, William and I raced against each other on the America’s Cup race boats during our visit to New Zealand which was hugely exciting.”

Kate will often show off her thrifty sense of style by recycling pieces from her wardrobe.

Tonight seemed to be no different as she was seen wearing a white and navy striped top.

DON’T MISS

The top design could only be seen partly but it appeared to be the ME+EM Breton top which she first wore in 2014.

The item has a casual fit with a slightly scooped neck and three quarter length sleeves.

The affordable piece was originally on sale for just £48, although it has now sold out.

During her video, Kate opted to cover up most of the design by wearing a sporting jacket.

The caption read: “Good luck message from Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.

“Over 11,000 miles from home and about to take on the challenge of a lifetime, it’s inspiring to receive a message of support from The Duchess of Cambridge, Royal Patron of our Official Charity @1851trust, as we head into our first race day on BRITANNIA.

“Royal support for Britain’s challenge to the win the Auld Mug first dates back to the original race in 1851, when Queen Victoria saw America in first place and asked who was second, the reply came; ‘Your Majesty, there is no second.’

“That phrase, just four words, is still the best description of the America’s Cup and how it represents the singular pursuit of excellence.”

The royal line of succession – who outranks who?

The line of succession to the British throne dictates the order in which each member of the Royal Family would ascend to the throne.

It is also seen as a ranking of importance with the head of the line, the Queen, taking the place of ruler.

Older children come before younger children. Traditionally boys came before girls, but this law was changed on 26 March 2015 before the birth of Prince William’s first child.

Incredibly, Catholics are still excluded from the line of succession, as are children born outside of wedlock.

The royals, who usually stick to a strict protocol when appearing in public, often arrive at events in ascending order of importance, with the most important royal arriving last.

Prince Charles, 72, is currently first-in-line to the British throne, followed by Prince William, 38, his oldest son.

Then comes Prince William’s children, George, seven, Charlotte, five, and Louis, two, and they are followed by Prince Harry, 36. Prince Harry is succeeded by his son Archie Harrison, born in May 2019.
